DATA POLICY

We make every attempt to protect your data. We always back up your files onto a separate hard drive, when we receive them. Our policy is that we will keep your data files until you have downloaded and verified receipt of your finished files via email. Once you have confirmed receipt via email, we will delete your files from our hard drive.

For your own security, we ask that you ensure that you have made a back-up safety copy prior to sending us your confirmation of receipt. We would appreciate notification of receipt within 72 hours of delivery.

Important Note: We do not offer long term archiving as a part of our services, so if you do not notify us proof of receipt by email and therefore lose your data, we will not be held responsible.

If You Are Working On A DAW Other Than ProTools:

We can accept audio files that have been created by any Digital Audio Workstation but we do ask that you follow these very simple instructions when creating your files to be sent to us:

1. We prefer Broadcast Wav (.WAV) files.
2. That all files have a ZERO START for sync purposes - Zero start means that all files start at bar 1, beat 1, of your session)
3. Please notify us about the Sample Rate and the Tempo of your song in your correspondence.

This method of sending complete audio files is much simpler than sending us your whole session.

Stem Files:

Stem Files are essentially premixes of different groups of tracks such as Guitars and Background Vocals. It is much easier for us if you send premixed stems of guitars, Keyboards, Horns etc blended the way you like them rather than all the individual tracks. That way we can start with a close approximation of your mix with the control of these key elements without the need to upload and download dozens of files.

1. Please clearly name all files you send to us, i.e. Guitar Group, Keys Group, Click etc... incidentally, when you name the Click track, that is also a good place include tempo and sample rate information.
2. When naming your Sample Rate please use the underscore _or dash - instead of the period. in your sample rate i.e. 44_1, or 88-2

After creating your stem files please import at least one of the stems you have created back into your source session [The Click Track is the best] to check that there are no strange timing issues - some processes will slightly delay the stem.

Note: Sending us your entire session is only really necessary if we are mixing your music after overdubbing. Please feel free to call CJ if you are experiencing any affecting your Stem Files, and he will help you through the process. Tip: ZIP or RAR your files for uploading so that you can send all the files at once and reduce the sixe of the upload. This does not effect quality.

Pro Tools Users:

We are happy to receive your Pro Tools session, but large sessions can take much longer to upload and download, so creating Stem Files will seriously reduce the upload/download time. We suggest that you create a new Pro Tools session that contains just the necessary Stem Files, without plug-ins or additional processing. Please feel free to call CJ if you are not sure about how to do this.

Note: If plug-ins is a big part of the sound you want us to hear, please process them into your audio files just in case we do not have access to the same plug-ins here in the studio. Tip: I have found that bouncing to track is more timing accurate than bouncing to disk for these purposes.

Drum Overdubs:

Scenario: You may be early in your production and at the point of wanting us to record drums or other elements for you.

If you are planning to re-record or overdub most or all of your original parts to the real drum tracks that we ultimately send to you, please specify if you need us to record to a Click? Some clients want us to play to a ‘vibe’ so please let us know your preference.

Note: Please feel free to call or email CJ if you need any advice of guidance.

What Will You Receive From Us?

Non Pro Tools Users

1. You will receive individual files of the drums or other overdubs that we have done for you in whatever audio format you prefer [.WAV, AIFF, SDII,]
2. We will also return to you the click you sent us. This is to help you be sure that our drums and other overdubs are lining up again with your source session.
3. We will upload your files via our secure file delivery service and you will be notified by email when your files are ready to be downloaded.

Note: Please see our Data Policy.

Pro Tools Users

You will receive a ProTools Session that includes only the Drum tracks or other new elements we recorded for you. You can then import the session data to your session, or just import the audio as all the files will be zero start consolidated files.

Recommended File Transfer Services:

There are many File Delivery services online but these two the ones that we regularly use and recommend.

http://www.sendspace.com
http://www.yousendit.com

Both are Free to new customers but please note that both have maximum file size restrictions:
Sendspace: 300mb files. Yousendit: 100mb files.
